Pregnancy

Third Trimester

September 13, 2013

It’s been a while since I wrote about the progress of our pregnancy. We are 30 weeks now and the babies are doing great!

Nicole has been such a trooper throughout this whole process.  At 29 weeks, her belly was as large as it had been at 40 weeks with her previous pregnancy.  Yikes!  She is a little concerned with how much bigger she will actually get.

Evidently our girl is quite the kickboxer and stays active all day long, while our boy is a little more chill and just hangs out.

At the 28 week ultrasound, the babies looked great — baby girl was 2 lbs 9 oz and baby boy was 2 lbs 11 oz.  This is GREAT for twins — very good sizes even for singletons.  However, we got a scare at that appointment because Nicole started showing signs of preeclampsia. She had +1 protein in her urine and has been having really bad headaches.  She will be monitored for this with our MFM and will monitor her own symptoms closely. We are hoping this will stay minor and that the babies can stay in for a while longer. She went to the doctor yesterday and everything is the same. No worse, so that is good. Also, baby boy turned over and isn’t breech any more!

We are almost done with the nursery.  (I will post pictures soon!)  We have cribs, mattresses, bedding, a rocker, a changing table and I have hung pictures.  It’s been a lot of fun, and I’ve done all of my shopping online since I can’t shop the traditional way any more.

We have started the birth amendment process with our attorney and are getting all of that rolling.

We have three baby showers coming up this month, so I’m very excited about that.

And, we got our double stroller.  It’s like a stretch limo – haha!  We love it and are so thankful for my friend Emily who helped us get it using her employee discount.

Overall, things are going very well.  We are so thankful.  I thank God every day for Nicole and each of the babies.

    So amazing Whitney. Congratulations!
I start my stim cycle next week for my GC journey. My cousin is carrying for me. This has been a long road and your blog gives me hope! Because of the information you posted we have decided to do genetic testing for our embryos too. Just makes sense and hopefully we’ll have a miracle on the first transfer:)
Thank you for sharing your story! I don’t know anyone who has chosen this path so I’m incredibly grateful to read about your journey.

Can’t believe you are a few weeks or less from holding your precious babies…still think of you often.
