We took the kids to Johnson’s Orchard to pick apples yesterday. We didn’t know that they also had a super cute petting zoo with horses, alpacas, goats, pigs and chickens. They had a nice picture set up with hay, cornstalks, pumpkins and apples and it was nice until we got there. Leave it to my kids to destroy the whole thing and send the corn stalks flying.
The kids fed the goats, listened the pigs squeal and chased the chickens. And, we got to chase more “pa-pillars” as my son calls caterpillars. 🙂
When we picked apples, as usual, it was a challenge to get the kids to listen to us and not pick the damaged fruit. We took a Longaberger basket that my grandmother had given me. The kids picked up together because it was heavy and it was so cute to see them working together carrying that basket. These moments are so bittersweet. I’m so happy we have reminders of her, but sad she wasn’t there to see them herself.
We picked lots of apples and I am getting ready to bake another pie!
