We just got back from a trip to Puerto Rico, where Erick is from and where we met. We try to go once per year or every two years and it’s hard to truly vacation and also visit family. We stay with Erick’s mom in the city and then travel around from there.
If you’re ever considering a trip there, please let me know as I’d be happy to give you some recommendations on what to do, where to stay, etc.
We had a nice conversation with the Dept. of Family while we were there. It seems that the procedure for adopting is fairly straight-forward, however they couldn’t tell us an idea of how long it might take. Could be upwards of two years and it takes longer for U.S. residents, but the fees are small — just like adopting from social services here. They do have babies, but not as frequently. We’re thinking to try to go ahead and get a home study and get on the list there while we figure out what else we’re going to do or while we keep saving for an agency.
