Everybody is entitled to their opinion, so I would encourage everyone to take their decision in the upcoming presidential election very seriously this year and make an informed decision.
It’s no secret that I’m an Obama supporter, and I feel comfortable saying that to anyone because I have reasons to back up my opinion and have done lots of research on both candidates, even though I would like to do even more.
I’m shocked and amazed every day by the number of lies that I’m seeing and hearing. McCain is lying left and right and he and his camp are certainly taking this campaign to a new low, of the likes that have been unseen until now. Even Karl Rove thinks it has gone too far. Karl Rove, people! And, even worse, are the number of attacks against Barack Obama from McCain supporters or other random people. Not that the Obama camp hasn’t ever stretched the truth, but the difference between the two sides is staggering. Stretching the truth and outright lies are different.
I’m disappointed that people believe this stuff unquestioned, without coming to their own conclusions or without doing a little research or fact-checking. I receive multiple emails daily touting sensational fabrications. It’s very upsetting to me, but because I want to continue to have a good relationship with these folks, I’m taking my cue from Obama himself by taking the high road and not taking the bait.
I have no problem talking about issues with someone that has a different opinion, so long as we’re talking about real things that really happened. In fact, I enjoy a good debate.
I would encourage everyone – Obama or McCain supporters – to check out the following non-partisan websites to sort through the truth, half-truth and the lies in addition to getting news from multiple sources:
